WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Charles Barr was born and raised in Wichita Falls and is running for the Wichita Falls City Councilor At-Large.
"I've done several things and it's kind of on my bucket list," Barr said. "So why not."
He's served on the city's police department, Planning and Zoning Commission, Water Resource Commission, and the Building Board. He has also been a home builder since 1967.
Barr believes that his experience is why he is the right person for the job.
Things he wants to improve include adding more businesses and growing the economy.
"Without those two items the city is just going to sit stagnantly," Barr said. "Those are the two things we have to have."
He thinks it can be fixed with a mix of more large and small manufacturing jobs.
Barr said he is also passionate about bringing more young people to the Falls.
"We need young people," he said. "And we've got to have more in the economy to bring in younger people. The older we get, the more it's going to decline."
One thing that has Barr encouraged is the current efforts to revitalize downtown.
"There's a lot of places all over the country that are just dying," Barr said. "And the city is doing a great job with what they're doing."
He believes he's been around Wichita Falls long enough to have a pulse on the city and thinks that is why he deserves your vote.
Penny Miller, Bob Whiteley, and Brendan Bell are also running for City Councilor At-Large. The election will be held November 7.
