WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Sheppard Air Force base hosted a statue dedication Friday morning near the main gate.

The six-foot-tall bronze statue of the 'maintenance man' Lt. Leo Marquez is familiar to those who work on planes across the Air Force.

The excitement was in the air as that statue was unveiled.

"The statue is a symbol of our United States Air Force maintenance technician's," Commander of the 82nd Training Wing, Ronald Jolly said. "And he basically created that symbol."

The ceremony concluded a three-day air force wide strategy seminar attended by approximately 25 general officers.
