HENRIETTA, TX (KAUZ) - Newschannel 6 has learned a former Henrietta pastor and educator took a plea deal this week in 97th District Court in Clay County.
Robert Todd Davis, 51, was set to stand trial Tuesday for sex crimes against a child but he took a plea deal on Monday.
Officials with the 97th District Court said Davis was sentenced to 8 years Deferred Adjudication and has to register as a sex offender.
An investigation into abuse allegations began with the Clay County Sheriff's Office and was turned over to the District Attorney's office in early 2016.
Davis turned himself into authorities in May 2016. The alleged abuse took place between May 2009 and May 2013.
Davis was a teacher at Henrietta ISD and Wichita Christian School for periods of time before his arrest.
He also served as a pastor at the Henrietta Church of Christ prior to his arrest. Davis is no longer affiliated with those schools or church.
