WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - October is National Bullying Prevention Month and a group of women in Texoma is taking a stand against bullying.
Members of the Wichita Falls Community in Schools organization were dressed in purple Thursday to take part in Spirit Day, a national day dedicated to bullying prevention.
Members of the CIS organization were at AT&T selling purple bracelets with the phrase "Bullying stops here."
Organizers hope this message will get out into the schools to help victims of bullying.
"So many people are facing bullying," said Community in Schools board member, Cyndi Poling. "It knows no race, it knows no gender, and more are being faced with bullying especially with social media. The way it is these days people are being bullied online. We have to let these people know being bullied that there is a support system out there they can just turn off Facebook and not worry about that kind of stuff and just focus on what they need to be doing."
Bullying prevention month continues through October. All of the bracelets sold are going toward local CIS organizations.
This is a program that helps students in schools.
