Drivers will need to expect some issues near the I-44 and Missile Road area for at least the next week.

A semi-truck pulling an excavator while traveling north on I-44 hit the bridge early Monday morning causing some damage. Structural engineers were called to the site to assess the damage and determine the safety for those traveling in the area.

Officials from TXDOT tell Newschannel 6 that the Northbound side of I-44 under the Missile Road bridge is down to one lane. They say it is expected to stay that way for the majority of this week, possibly longer. The Eastbound side of the Missile Road bridge is closed to traffic until further notice. The Westbound side remains open due to the fact that it is its own structure.

Engineers from TXDOT will be inspecting the bridge over the next few days to determine what action will be taken to fix it.

No one was injured in the accident which happened this morning.
