IOWA PARK, TX (KAUZ) - Iowa Park is close to breaking ground on a new animal shelter that's been years in the works.
Monday night city councilors passed $200,000 of 4B money to be spent on a new animal reclaim center.
City manager Jerry Flemming said the project is not a done deal quite yet, but on December 1 they can allocate those funds and begin construction shortly after.
Flemming said they already have a steal kit building design and three bids. They will award a bid in the coming weeks.
The current shelter has three kennels. The new one will have 16 kennels and a cat room.
They are hoping to move in by this coming spring.
