WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Wichita Falls church is giving back to their community with donations and volunteer work.
New Jerusalem Baptist Church on Borton Lane gives out free bags of food, clothing and medical treatment on the last Saturday of every month. The donations are given from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Those in need can pick up donations and get their blood pressure and sugar levels checked by a nurse. Several church members also go out and help with Meals on Wheels deliveries.
"It's a great joy," Pastor Angus Thompson. "It's a great joy to be able to immediate needs people have. Those who volunteer feel good about it because they're able to put legs on the words we preach Sunday morning."
More than 100 people were served food and given clothes but that's not all the church will have a big feast on Thanksgiving.
The pastor said anyone is welcome to attend the feast and Mayor Stephen Santellana is also expected join the table.
