WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday they plan to provide $60 million in funding for planning, constructing and maintaining community airports.
275 community airports in Texas are eligible for this funding including Kickapoo Downtown Airpark in Wichita Falls, Wilbarger County Airport, and Graham Municipal Airport.
$2.8 million was approved for Kickapoo Downtown Airpark. The funds will be used for airport improvements including pavement and drainage projects.
$2.3 million was approved for the Wilbarger County Airport. The funds will be used for pavement improvements.
$166,667 was approved for the Graham Municipal Airport. The funds will be sued for engineering and design for pavement and electrical improvements.
These community airports and many others provide arrival and departures for more than three million flights hours per year and provide aircraft facilities for agricultural, medical, business and commuter use.
