WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Newschannel 6 has more information connected to the arrest of a prominent Wichita Falls businessman.

On Thursday, November 9, a DPS trooper was traveling south on Central Freeway around 4:05 p.m. when he saw a black Tahoe weaving in the middle lane lines from side to side.

The trooper wrote in a report that the driver, Jody Wade of Jody Wade Enterprises, failed to drive in a single lane multiple times.

The trooper initiated a traffic stop at the Old Jacksboro Highway exit. According to the arrest report, the trooper said when he made contact with Wade he immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Wade's breath.

Wade's eyes were bloodshot, drooping eyelids, and slurred speech according to the trooper. When asked to exit the vehicle, the trooper said Wade appeared to have difficulty balancing while walking.

The trooper stated Wade admitted to having three mixed drinks and a 'couple' beers before driving. Wade agreed to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which the trooper said he performed poorly.

The trooper took Wade into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. Wade then informed the trooper he had a handgun in the center console of his vehicle.

Due to his believed intoxicated, Wade possessing a handgun was committing the violation of Unlawfully Carrying of a Handgun.

At the scene, the trooper said Wade agreed to provide a specimen of his breath at the Wichita Co. Jail. However, after arriving at the jail the trooper said Wade refused to provide the specimen of breath.

Wade was then taken to United Regional where a blood search warrant was obtained for a blood sample to be taken. Following the blood withdraw Wade was booked into the Wichita County Jail.
