Kiowa Casino collects over 48,000 pounds of canned goods

DEVOL, OK (KAUZ) -

Kiowa Casino's food drive wrapped up today and the canned goods were sent off to be given out across Texoma. The casino's 10th annual food drive collected a lot of food for local organizations. 33 pallets were loaded full of cans and weighed about 48 thousand pounds all together.

"We really feel it's important to be a business, be a partner in the community. We've been doing it, like I said for the past 10 years, and we also do the Toys for Tots Drive here as well," said James Laporte, Chief Operating Officer for Kiowa Casino.

From the casino, the cans were loaded up and distributed to organizations in Wichita Falls and Lawton. The Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and local churches also received some of the canned goods. All of these donations wouldn't have been possible without the people who donated to Kiowa Casino. Over 5,000 people participated in this year's donation.
