VERNON, TX (KAUZ) -

Orders are being taken for the annual Holiday Spirit Meals in Vernon.

The Thanksgiving day and Christmas day meals will be served at the Wilbarger County Auditorium at 2100 Yamparika Street in Vernon between Noon and 2:00 p.m. while supplies last.

For those needing a meal delivered, the deadline to order is Sunday, November 19. To place your order, call (940) 552-9436.

Both Holiday Spirit Meals consist of ham, turkey, dressing, gravy, okra gumbo, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, black-eyed peas, pinto beans, cranberry sauce, English pea salad, fruit, salad and relishes.

A variety of desserts will be served to those who dine in at the auditorium. Pat and Glenna Bryant began the Holiday Spirit Meals in 1987 and handed over the reigns to Billy and Sharon Goins shortly before Pat passed away.

It's a holiday tradition that has grown over the years and organizers cannot wait to serve their community this holiday season.
