Bomb threat forces lockdown at Vernon state hospital

VERNON, TX (KAUZ) -

Employees have confirmed to Newschannel 6 the lockdown at the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon was lifted around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Officials said nothing was found. The NTSH campus went on lockdown Tuesday afternoon. 

Officials confirmed the lockdown was implemented after the campus received a bomb threat around 2:10 p.m.

The bomb threat was called in by a phone number not connected to the state hospital. The caller said three bombs were inside the building and they would detonate at 4:00 p.m.

The Vernon Police Department and Vernon Fire Department were called in to search the campus. 

Employees were notified through an emergency alert system and were told to stay in place.
