BOWIE,TX(RNN Texoma) - According to the Bowie News, the Bowie Independent School District has approved a nearly $2.8 million energy efficiency facility improvement project.
The project will replace and upgrade everything from building lighting to aged heating and cooling units.
For the past several months, Bowie ISD has been working with a company called Entegral Solutions to review all facets of the district's energy use.
Mike Cauthen of Entegral said every facility will be getting an LED retrofit with new fixtures at specified locations. He said that this does not include sports lighting in stadiums, but it does include the gyms.
Networkable thermostats will be installed and the emergency management system at Bowie High School, which is the only campus with this program, will be retro-commissioned.
The largest component of the project will be the replacement of HVAC units of which the district has more than 250 units.
