WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

Texas State Senator Candidate Pat Fallon kicked off his tour of Wichita County in Iowa Park today. The current state representative also visited Electra.

He held town halls asking citizens to share their ideas in an effort to fulfill a campaign promise he made of listening to what his constituents have to say.

One of the Main topics discussed was education. As the child of two educators Fallon said it is an issue that is close to his heart.

He feels that rural school districts outside of suburban areas should have pensions to make it easier to keep good teachers. He said, “Imagine when you’re in a rural area and it’s 20 minutes from a suburban area - you’re talking a $30,000 difference.”

He also showed skepticism towards school vouchers. The candidate stated, “I haven’t seen any substantive data that classroom outcomes are vastly improved if you have vouchers.”

This led Electra Superintendent Scott Hogue to ask, “What is your philosophy on representing your constituents as opposed to party line?” Fallon said he is mainly concerned about making sure tax payers’ dollars are being put to good use.
