WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

A Wichita Falls man could be facing even more charges following an assault just before noon on Monday.

According to the WFPD, William David Starnes, 46, assaulted a 59-year-old woman while they were outside a home on the 500 block of Burkburnett road. A 64-year-old man who lived in the home tried to intervene. Police said that is when Starnes struck the man’s head with a wooden board.

The victim was rushed to United Regional and placed in ICU. His family arrived at the hospital Wednesday and briefly spoke with News Channel 6. However, they wish to remain private. There have been no further reports on his condition.

Investigators and the victim’s roommate both say that all three parties involved did know each other prior to the alleged assault.

Starnes fled from the scene and was later found at a home in the 1400 block of N. 6th Street and arrested for drug-related charges. He has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Assault Family Violence for his alleged attack on a 59-year-old woman.

WFPD officials said additional charges are pending. Stay with News Channel 6 as we continue to follow this developing story.
