WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

A ribbon cutting Saturday showed off a unique addition to Hamilton Park in Wichita Falls.

Mayor Stephen Santellana cut the ribbon himself to recognize the hundreds of hours of work to create the new playground at the park.

The playground is not your traditional one. The materials and style of the structure make it the first playground of it's kind in North Texas.

"What we looked for was a playground that the children could use their imagination, one that was without a theme and that was just our starting point but then we realized how important it is to have a playground that's accessible to all children," said Ania Hilmi, past President of the Wichita County Medical Alliance.

Those who made this happen say it would not have been possible without the help of their partners and support from city leaders.
