WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The Midwestern State University women's soccer team picked up a local signee Monday.

Rider senior Emma Baley signed with the Mustangs, even though they currently don't have a head coach.

She said despite the departure of Damian Clarke, she's excited to attend Midwestern, and a major part of that was because she gets to stay close to home, with her parents, including her mother who is battling breast cancer.

"She's definitely someone I look up to," Baley said. She always [keeps] a straight head; she sees the light in the day. So I love staying here, I get to be closer to home, be with her, be with my family. It was just amazing."

Baley was a TASCO 1st-team all-Region I-5A selection in 2017 as a junior. Those awards have not yet been announced for this year, but she was named 1st-team all-District 5-5A.
