WF Leaders awarded for their partnership in education

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Volunteers, mentors, and business owners were honored for their involvement in WFISD's program Partners in Education (PIE).

Organization of the Year was awarded to Jan Waldmuller and Partner of the Year was given to Kolter Lukart. Both have given funds and supplies to students at Lamar Elementary - a school that some staff members say has students that are under resourced.

Lukart saw the school's needs and decided to pitch in, "Lamar is a school in our community that needs every bit of help they can get. We did a tour of their campus and at that point I was in."

The CEO of Guarantee Title has not only donated money to the school, but he has also bought shirts for all the students. PIE Coordinator Heather Miller said that every student having a school shirt is a first.

Jan Waldmuller of First National Bank has worked with Lamar for 10 years. She has gotten to watch students go from children to you adults. She said, "I watched a little girl - I had her I guess from second grade until she graduated. That's what's neat about it because you can meet the kids. They come to our bank so I get to see them grow up."

Both winners hope to continue making a positive impact on Lamar Elementary students in the future.
