WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A Wichita Falls boy got the surprise of a lifetime on Thursday.
Camden McKie, 6, thought he was just picking out some books at the Jefferson Elementary School library but found out he will go to Disney World.
"I was surprised," Camden said.
"I think it's a little bittersweet," Ashley McKie his mother said. "I hate the fact that his circumstances led him here but I'm thrilled he's going to have this experience."
Two years ago, began to experience weakness on the right side of his body. His parents said they first thought it was cerebral palsy, something his twin brother, Chase, was diagnosed with.
"We started doing therapy but it was frustrating because we didn't see any improvement," Ashley said.
He got an MRI scan and it was discovered he had a brain tumor.
"As a little kid, it's almost not fair," Justin McKie his father said. "He's very resilient. kids bounce back a lot quicker than adults do."
Camden had surgery last October, he needed a wheelchair to get around. His parents said he now he moves like any boy his age just a little clumsier.
"It's really good for him to experience some joy after all the struggles he's been through," Justin said. "We're really looking forward to it."
His parents said their son gets scanned every three months and the latest scan showed the tumor is shrinking.
"I'm going to Disney World, I'm going to Disney World, I'm going to Disney World," Camden said as he danced around in celebration.
Camden and his family will leave for Disney World this summer.
