6 Around Town Mid-Week Edition

WICHITA COUNTY, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

With the warm weather sticking around this week, here are a few outdoor events to enjoy with your family.

Starting on Tuesday, the After School Fishing program starts at South Weeks Pond off of Southwest Parkway.

From 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. free fishing sessions will be given to kids ages 5-16. They will have a few poles to borrow but if you have one, be sure to bring it.

All bait will be provided. Can't make it tomorrow? There will be free fishing sessions the May 10, 15, and 18.

Participants will receive personalized and expert instruction on common fishing techniques from Texas Parks & Wildlife staff. Fish, of legal size, can be taken home (if parents approve, of course).

All should bring a bucket for "take home" fish, a drink, a hat, and sunscreen. For more information, please contact the Recreation Division at 940-761-7490.

Then on Tuesday evening, the 2018 Parks and Recreation Free Outdoor concert series starts.

Black River will kick off this week's concert with the best of classic and southern rock. The concert will be at South Weeks Park at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of free entertainment. The 50 Plus Zone will be serving free hot dogs. For more information, please contact the Recreation Division at 940-761-7490.

On Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Live at the Lake Concert Series gets underway at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU. Cousin Fuzzy will bring the music this week.

Whatever you choose, bring the sunscreen and water to stay hydrated. Weather should be nice but there is a slight chance for a shower late Tuesday.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
