WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a shooting at a home in E. Lincoln that sent a 28-year-old man to the hospital.

A traffic stop on Wednesday led to Brittany Whittaker, 26, and Colton Hobbs, 20, being taken down to the Wichita Falls Police Department for questioning.

Later that evening the pair were booked into the Wichita Co. Jail for aggravated assault warrants.

According to the arrest warrant, on April 29, 2018, a neighbor of the victim said he showed up at her house screaming he had been shot.

The victim was rushed to United Regional to be treated for a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Another neighbor told police she heard a loud pop and someone screaming at the time of the shooting. She also told officers she saw a light-colored, four-door, older sedan outside the victim's home about 15 minutes before she heard the gunshots.

On April 30, 2018, that neighbor brought the victim's phone to the WFPD and said there was a messenger app open that showed Whittaker messaging with someone about shooting the victim.

Detectives went to the hospital to speak with the victim about what happened. Due to being intubated, the victim could only nod or write responses to officers.

The victim was shown a photo lineup with Whittaker and similar looking people. According to police, the victim positively identified Whittaker as the shooter.

The victim also wrote down Hobb's name on a piece of paper when asked if a man was present during the shooting.

On May 2, 2018, a citizen informant contacted police with information about the shooting. The informant said Whittaker told them she went to the victim's home to confront him about holding her girlfriend hostage for two days.

According to the arrest warrant, no report exists for that offense at the victim's home address. The informant said Whittaker told them that Hobbs carries a .40 caliber Beretta with him and during the confrontation she took the gun from Hobbs and shot the victim in the stomach.

The informant said Hobbs told them he got rid of the gun after the shooting. 40 caliber rounds were found at the scene and the victim was shot in the stomach, according to the arrest affidavit.

A records check of Hobbs confirmed he was associated with a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. which was similar to the suspect vehicle described by a neighbor.

Both Whittaker and Hobbs were booked into the Wichita Co. Jail on Wednesday for aggravated assault. Each of them has a $750,000 bond.
