WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

This week is National Police Appreciation week and Monday, Wichita Falls Police Department honored our current and fallen officers with a police memorial.

The memorial was held at the police department on Holliday Street.

Several city groups and leaders were in attendance.

Chief of police, Manuel Borrego said it is important to recognize those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"They gave their life serving this community," said Borrego.  "They are our brethren in law enforcement and we are just going to make sure they are not forgotten.  They are going to be eternally remembered for what they did in their community in Wichita Falls."

There was a ringing of a bell and laying of a wreath for those officers killed in the line of duty.
