WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

A former Wichita Falls ISD teacher has been given probation for an inappropriate relationship with a student.

In June 2015, Amber Witte was arrested on the charge of improper relationship between educator and student.

According to the arrest affidavit, Witte was accused of having sex with a high school student at her home. Witte denied having sexual intercourse with the student but did admit to performing oral sex on the victim.

Witte's trial was set to begin on Monday, May 14. However, just days before on Friday, May 11, Witte pled guilty and was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication.

As part of her plea agreement, Witte will no longer be allowed to teach in Texas.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
