Wichita Falls woman arrested for arson

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

A Wichita Falls woman is behind bars in the Wichita County Jail for an arson charge.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Amanda Almendarez, 33, was seen by officers and firefighters setting grass on fire as they responded to a call in the 3200 block of Marian Lane on Saturday.

She was detained by police and then taken into custody by a Wichita Falls Fire Marshal. According to WFPD, Almendarez said the gas in the air made her do it.

Almendarez remains in the Wichita County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
