Failure to report alleged sexual assault charge dropped against WFISD principal

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - News Channel 6 has learned a Wichita Falls ISD principal has been cleared on a failure to report charge.

Ashley Thomas, Communications Officer, said Cindy Underwood has been cleared and is no longer on administrative leave.

We first reported in February, according to the arrest affidavit, on November 6, 2017, officials with Child Protective Services notified the WFPD of a possible aggravated sexual assault that occurred at Haynes Northwest Academy.

Underwood, the Haynes Northwest Academy Principal, turned herself in on the misdemeanor charge in February of this year.

She was accused of putting the children involved at risk for further possible abuse by releasing them back to their parents following an alleged incident of aggravated sexual assault instead of filing a report with CPS or police, according to the WFPD.

Another principal was also charged with failure to report. That case is still pending. Stay with News Channel 6 as we follow this developing story.
