UPDATE: The mother and son seriously injured in a rollover on Thursday morning in Wilbarger County are in stable, but serious conditions, according to DPS.

Officials said both have undergone major surgeries following the wreck on FM 925. The crash claimed the life of a 10-year-old Vernon girl. 

Around 7:20 a.m. Thursday, an SUV traveling on FM 925 near Vernon left the roadway for unknown reasons and entered a side ditch and rolled several times, according to DPS officials. 

The occupants were a woman and three children. The mother was flown to United Regional and her son was flown to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth to be treated for serious injuries. 

Vernon ISD posted to its Facebook page on Thursday afternoon the victim was a Shive Elementary student and the mother is a district staff member.

The oldest daughter was treated and released at the scene. Road conditions were dry and visibility was clear at the time of the accident, according to DPS officials. 

Vernon ISD posted to its Facebook page on Friday ways people can donate to the family.
