WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - It was an exciting day at Zundy Elementary School Thursday in Wichita Falls and not just because it was the last day of school.
A special third-grade teacher received an important award for creative teaching and dedication towards his students.
The teacher received the 2018 Dorothy Moser Huffman Award and also $1,000 towards their classroom.
That teacher was Rosendo Ramos, a math and science teacher at Zundy.
Ramos said he was honored to receive the award but that every teacher deserves recognition.
"I'm thrilled, surprised because this was unexpected," he said. "All teachers here at Zundy do such a great job and I'm just one of the few that has been recognized today but every teacher in fact at schools like Zundy should be recognized for the works that we do."
Ramos said he plans to use the money he received to help buy new furniture to make his classroom more comfortable for students next year.
