WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

Graduating seniors aren't the only people stepping into the next chapter of their lives, so are some longtime educators.

After 29 years in education, Principal Dee Palmore from Rider High School is retiring.

He graduated from Midwestern State University before spending his entire career with WFISD.

He said wrapping up his time at Rider High School has been bittersweet.

"It's been a long journey it's been a great journey, just helping kids has been. The relationships built with those kids and seeing those kids. I'm having kids of kids now come through at high school so that means you've been here for a while so you see I guess the fruits of your labor," he said.

Palmore said he won't be going far and will still show up to sporting events.

The students, teachers, and staff at Rider say they will miss seeing him at school every day.
