WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

Memorial Day is coming up Monday, May 28.

It is a day that our nation honors those who have given their lives in service to our nation.

Many events are going on and businesses also are showing their support by offering deals to veterans.

We have compiled a list of different things going on this weekend.

Burkburnett Memorial Day Observance:

A Boy Scout Troop from Burkburnett will be assisting with a flag ceremony at the Burkburnett Cemetery on Monday, May 28 at 11 a.m.

The cemetery is located at 920 Bishop Road in Burkburnett.

American Legion Riders standing flag line:

The American Legion Riders of Post 202 will be standing a flag line at Scotland and Windthorst on Monday, May 28. Riders will stage at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Greenbriar Wal-Mart. The ride to Scotland will be at 8:15 a.m. Those wishing to meet them at Scotland should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. A short briefing will take place at 8:40 a.m. Once the ceremony is over, they will re-stage at the city park in Windthorst for the ceremony later on that morning. Water and snacks will be provided.

Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars activities:

The public is invited to attend the Memorial Day ceremonies hosted by the Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2676 and Auxiliary, Monday, May 28. The first ceremony will be at the Veterans Memorial at St. Boniface Catholic church cemetery in Scotland, Texas from 9:00-10:00 A.M. St. Mary’s Catholic church grotto in Windthorst, Texas is the site of the second ceremony from 11:00-12:00 (noon). The public is requested to bring lawn chairs.

Deals:

McAlister's Deli® Offering Complimentary Meal to Veterans and Active Duty this Memorial Day:

McAlister's Deli in Wichita Falls will be offering a free entree, dessert, and drink to military personnel on Monday, May 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Military personnel must show proof of service, be in uniform or present valid military ID. Offer applies to both veterans and active duty. No purchase is necessary.

McAlister's is located at 3900 Call Field Road.

Home Depot:

All veterans will receive at 10% discount on Memorial Day. This is not to be confused with the Everyday 10% Military Discount which is available to those who are currently serving, Retired Veterans, or VA Recipients and their immediate family.

Sherwin-Williams:

In honor of Military Appreciation Month, Military and Veterans save an additional 10% on Paints & Stains during the month of May. Those eligible for the discount must be currently serving, a reservist or have served in the military, including ROTC, the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army or Royal Canadian Air Force, OR be the spouse of someone currently serving. Please show valid military issued ID.

    The BBB is making a special effort to help small businesses in Wichita Falls and across the nation. Small business are targets of scams that the everyday person may not be. So, the BBB along with law enforcement agencies recently launched a new initiative called Operation Main Street to educate small business on how to protect themselves.
