WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A Wichita Falls church started Memorial Day festivities a day early.
Legacy Church held a tailgate party after their morning services Sunday.
They grilled food, had a baseball game, and even a slip-and-slide for both kids and adults.
This is an annual event for the church and the pastor, John Gardner, said he hopes that while having fun people also take the time to thank and remember those who gave everything in service to our nation.
"We do this every year just to honor the fallen and the vets that we have," Gardner said. "We have a lot of people being in a town with a military base there's a lot of people here that are retired and vets and so we want to take a day and honor them."
Gardner said his own son is serving overseas.
