WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Faculty of the Vernon College Nursing Program are going back to school on Tuesday.

They are being trained how to use new patient simulators that were purchased with a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Nursing Innovation Grant Program.

The $192,481 grant is being used to renovate the nursing lab on the Vernon Campus and purchased new equipment to create a hospital-like atmosphere.

Two high-fidelity simulation manikins were purchased with the Nursing Innovation Grant Program funds.

"This a great opportunity for Vernon College to enhance the quality of training in the Associate Degree Nursing Program" stated Dr. Dusty R. Johnston, Vernon College President in a press release.

A representative from the company that supplies the simulators will be on campus on Tuesday, May 29 to train faculty on the use of the new manikins.
