WINDTHORST, TX (KAUZ) -

The town of Windthorst celebrated a milestone Sunday.

The town along with the historic St. Mary's Church marked 126 years Sunday.

After Sunday mass, people stuck around for food and games at the parish picnic.

Some residents of Windthorst said that although it is a small town, it keeps growing.

"We have a lot of residents that are moving here from area towns because we have such a good school," said Ted Neeb. "So it's like a bedroom community of Wichita Falls, people love living here, they love the rural life and they still can get the small town atmosphere and still be close to the big city."

All of the proceeds raised during the celebration will go to St. Mary's Church in Windthorst.

Neeb said the church is the town's lifeblood and what keeps the community together.
