WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A North Texas man behind bars in Wichita Co. is accused of stealing a vehicle that belongs to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Around 11 a.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to a business in the 1800 block of Kemp Blvd for a check suspicious person call.
Employees of the business said a man and woman had pulled into the parking lot in a vehicle and were walking around the parking lot outside of the business.
When officers arrived on the scene they saw the suspect vehicle with its brake lights on as if it were about to leave the scene. Police pulled in behind the vehicle to keep the suspects from leaving.
The driver, later identified as Jeffery Ryder, 30, of Itasca, Texas, got out of the vehicle holding the keys and following officer's instructions to get on the ground.
Ryder was detained and told police he did not want to talk. A record check on the vehicle showed it to be stolen out of Fort Worth and it belonged to ICE.
Ryder was booked into the Wichita Co. Jail for theft over $2,500 under $30,000 stolen vehicle.
