WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

Vernon College held their first community event Saturday.

The event was held at their campus in Century Center Plaza and showcased all that the college brings to Wichita Falls and surrounding areas.

Many of the college's community partners were there including United Regional, TxDOT, the Farmer's Market, and the Sheppard Air Force Base Fire Department.

Dusty Johnston, President of Vernon College, said he hopes the event encourages people to rethink and renew their education.

"If they see that they might want to go into a different type of career or some additional education, maybe they were working on a degree one time and didn't quite finish it, come out and let us help you finish that degree, help us get you into a new career maybe," Johnston said.

He also said he hopes the event provided the college more exposure to those seeking post-high school education.
