WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) -

The chairman of the Lake Wichita Falls Revitalization Committee stepped down Tuesday.

Stephen Garner has been the face of the movement since it began more than five years ago.

The committee has raised funds to make the lake a venue for all kinds of recreation and fun for families.

"It's been five and a half years of real joy and passion on my part. It's just time for me to address some other things in my life so I'm going to step down as chairman for the committee," Garner said.

Garner plans to still play an active roll on the committee until the project is finished.

There is no word yet on who will act as chairman following Garner's announcement.
