Several grass fires burning in Archer County


The cause for at least two fires in Archer County is still under investigation.

The first fire was off of FM 2224.

Officials with the Bowman Fire Department said there is not an exact number of how many acres were burned, but crews were able to get it out quickly.

Officials said one house was at risk when the fire sparked but crews were able to get that area safe quickly.

There was a total of seven departments on the scene to put out the flames.

Crews from the FM 2224 fire also tended to a fire off of Hwy 79 in Archer County.

Fire officials said it is too early to know if these two fires may have sparked by the same thing, but told News Channel 6, it is possible that could have happened.


Archer County Sheriff confirms there are several grass fires burning in the area near Highway 79 and FM 2224.
