Bench honoring Harrison Brown in the works

GRAHAM, Tx (RNN Texoma) - One organization in Graham is honoring a Graham High School graduate whose life was cut short with a memorial bench.

This comes after the Knights of Columbus Council pitched the idea to the Young County Commissioners to install a bench on the courthouse lawn to honor Harrison Brown.

A 19-year-old who was stabbed and killed at the University of Texas in Austin last year.

On Monday County Commissioners approved the request leaving many involved plus his own brother happy to hear that many will soon get to see what his brother was all about.

"Losing my brother was tough but having the community of Graham behind us it made it a more comforting experience," said John Brown, Harrison's brother. "All that we have is just gratitude for what the community has done for us. The commissioners, people in town, groups in town, we are just grateful and thankful for all the help and prayers we have received."

"He is a wonderful young man who did so much for the community and his family," said Knights of Columbus member, Jim Burkett.

At the moment the bench has not been designed and county commissioners have not told the group where exactly in the lawn they will install the bench.

However, organizers of this project say they hope they are able to install it near the gazebo.

If you would like to make a donation for the bench you are asked to contact Burkett at (940)-550-5949
