Gas prices up a penny due to strong demand

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Gas prices in the Lone Star State are averaging at $2.66 for a gallon or regular unleaded fuel.

That price is up one penny than last week and 61 cents more than this time last year. Prices in Texas are well below the national average of $2.88.

Record travel during the Fourth of July holiday, demand for gas remains very strong, according to AAA Texas officials.
