WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Drivers in Wichita Falls can rejoice.
TxDOT officials announced on Tuesday, the $1.3 million culvert replacement project was complete.
The northbound lanes of Maplewood were reopened to traffic on Tuesday afternoon. The project replaced culverts along the north and southbound Maplewood.
The old culverts were replaced because of age and width. New sidewalks were also installed during this project as well.
The project was originally expected to be finished in August of September. But the northbound lanes took less than six weeks to finish.
The contractor will remain on the project to do some cleanup work. Also, stripers will move in next week to paint the lane markings. Motorists should expect only minor inconveniences when striping.
The project was paid for with federal funding.
