WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A Wichita Falls man was arrested Tuesday night on several charges after running from officers with a handgun in his pocket, according to police.
Officers noticed Steven King, 48, riding a bicycle along Swallow Street at around 9:30 p.m.
Police said he committed several traffic violations and did not have a reflector on his bicycle. They attempted to stop King for the violations and said he then took off running.
Officers chased King until he stopped behind a nearby house and complied with their directions.
In his right pocket, officers said they found a black 9mm handgun. There was no round in the chamber but there were 13 rounds in the magazine. A records check showed the handgun was reported stolen.
In his left pocket, officers said they found two small bags, one with 29.35 grams of Methamphetamine, and the other with 0.0994 ounces of marijuana.
A records check on King showed a previous felony conviction from 1990 in San Diego, California and a Felon in Possession of a Firearm federal warrant from Washington County.
He was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, two drug charges, Evading Arrest or Detention, and the Washington County warrant.
