WFPD arrest man driving stolen vehicle from New Mexico

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A Wichita Falls man was arrested early Tuesday morning while driving a vehicle reported stolen in New Mexico.

Matthew Konovsky, 38, was stopped and arrested shortly after midnight.

Officers said they observed a black 1972 GMC pickup with no license plate on Jacksboro Highway.

They pulled Konovsky over and he told officers he had just bought the truck and had not had time to get a license plate or insurance for the vehicle.

A VIN check confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen in New Mexico, according to police. Konovsky also had a fully extraditable warrant from Oklahoma.

He was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. As of Wednesday morning, he is no longer in the Wichita County jail.
