WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - A pin-in accident on US 287 southbound shut down the highway near Wellington Lane around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Wichita Falls Police Department said a gray 2007 Ford Taurus sedan and a white 2012 Toyota Highlander SUV were headed toward Wichita Falls and a fire in a field near the highway caused drivers to slow down.
Police said the driver of the sedan did not slow down and crashed into the SUV from behind.
The driver of that car was pinned in and had to be cut out of the vehicle. Police said he was transported to the hospital with severe, but non-life threatening injuries.
Officers said the SUV had five people in the car, and all five were taken to the hospital to be checked out.
