Local organization in desperate need of school supplies

Bowie Gives Back, a nonprofit organization, is asking for help from the public to ensure no students start the new school year unprepared. 

Bowie Gives Back provides school supplies and backpacks for students in need. The organization relies solely on the generosity and donations from the community. 

Below is a list of items needed:

  • Backpacks (All Ages)
  • Pencils
  • Pencil Boxes (Cigar Size Only, No Zippers)
  • 3-Ring Pencil Bags
  • Erasers
  • Fiskar Scissors
  • Elmers Glue
  • Glue Sticks
  • Solid Colored Folders
  • Composition Notebooks
  • Wide-Ruled Notebook Paper
  • Crayons
  • Water Colors
  • Colored Pencils
  • Markers (Thick Washable)
  • Ziploc Bags (Gallon or Quart)
  • Freezer Bags (Gallon or Quart)
  • Binders (Cloth With Zippers)

Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the following locations:

Advanced Rehab - 700 U.S. Hwy 287
Central Baptist Church - 710 W. Wise Street
Happy Hearts Preschool - 317 W. Pecan Street

If you would rather give a monetary donation, checks can be made out to Bowie Gives Back, 1750 State Hwy 101, Bowie, TX, 76230.

If you are in need of school supplies you can sign up at the following locations by Friday, August 10. 

The Bowie Mission - 201 E. Greenwood - Thursday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Advanced Rehab - 700 U.S. Hwy 287 - Wednesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Backpack Bash 2018 handout event will be held on Thursday, August 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Bowie.
