TX gas prices down, but highest in August since 2014

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Gas prices in the Lone Star State are averaging at $2.63 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to AAA Texas.

That average is two cents less than last week. But drivers are paying the most expensive August gas prices since 2014, according to AAA Texas.

The cheapest price we found in Wichita Falls was $2.39 at the Murphy USA located on the 1400 block of Archer City Hwy.

Near record demand during these last few weeks forced prices to rise at the end of July into early August, according to AAA Texas.

But if the demand continues to drop, drivers can expect to see some relief at the pump.
