Ballistics led police to alleged shooters

WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Police say they have made an arrest in an investigation that began 15 months ago in Wichita Falls.

At 3:45 p.m. on April 21, 2017 police were called to 14th and Bluff Streets on reports of shots fired.

The investigation eventually led police to 23-year-olds Alton Mackey and Trevenian Mitchell.

Mitchell was previously arrested and has since bonded out of the Wichita County Jail.

About one month after the shooting occurred, weapons were recovered from both Mackey and Mitchell during a traffic stop at 11th and Grace.

Tests performed by the Texas DPS Crime Lab matched those weapons to the shell casings found at the scene of the April 21 shooting.

A warrant  for Deadly Conduct was issued for Mackey on August 18, 2017. Police finally caught up with the alleged shooter on Wednesday.

As of Thursday afternoon, Mackey remains in the Wichita County Jail on a more than $200,000 bond.
