ARCHER COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) -

Two fires in Archer County put fire crews to work on Friday afternoon.

One fire burned five to six acres in the area of Bowman Road and Highway 79 near Lakeside City.

Bowman VFD Chief John Strenski confirmed to News Channel 6 one home and several storage sheds were in danger of being burned.

But fire crews were able to put the fire out before reaching those structures.

The second fire sparked near Scotland and Lake Arrowhead.

At last check, crews from Scotland, Archer County, and Texas Forestry Service were continuing to battle the flames.

Smoke from both fires has reached several areas in Wichita and Wilbarger County. We're being told the smoke is impacting traffic in some areas.

Drivers are being encouraged to drive with caution. Stay with News Channel 6 as we work to learn more.
