GRAHAM, Tx (RNN Texoma) - Just one week after announcing they planned on shutting down, on Saturday Humane Society of Young County officials said some generous donors have given more than $48,000 to keep it open.
It takes $20,000 a month to run the animal shelter and give the pets a chance at a forever home. Officials said they are thankful for the donations but they still require more help.
In the next two weeks, the animal shelter will host two fundraisers to continue raising money. On September 15, the animal shelter will host its first-ever Pupapalooza from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fireman's Park in Graham. Puppies will be available for adoption.
On September 22, the shelter will host Ridin' for Rescues Charity Poker Run at 1212 Packing House Road in Graham.
