WICHITA FALLS, Tx (RNN Texoma) - The final results for Texoma Gives are in, and $1,223,336 was raised on this 16-hour day of giving.
Their goal of $1 million was reached 11 hours after kicking of the event.
A celebration took place Thursday night at 10 p.m. when it wrapped up.
The Midwestern State University band was at Parker Square playing music, and some Wichita Falls students were out there supporting their community.
This money is benefiting about 200 nonprofits and organizations in Texoma.
Leslie Schaffner, with Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation, said those involved are amazed at how much money was donated and how many people jumped at the chance to help out.
"To come together on a specially designated day to show that love for the community has just been overwhelming," said Schaffner.
She adds this event helps educate the community about all of the work these local nonprofits do.
"People have their favorites and hopefully after Texoma Gives they have a few new favorites too," Schaffner said.
Texoma Gives is raising the bar, they hope to raise at least $1.3 million next year!
