MONTAGUE, TX (TNN) - The Montague County Commissioners are moving forward with plans to demolish a historic building damaged by a fatal car crash and the resulting fire.
On August 19, 2018 the driver of a pickup drove through the courthouse square and ran into the building.
The truck caught on fire and the driver did not survive.
Bowie News reports the Montague County Commissioners are deciding where the debris will be disposed of, once the building is demolished. The abatement process is expected to take around two more weeks.
The owner of the building, Mark Chancellor, told News Channel Six, in September 2018, that he originally planned to build a theater in the building. He said he now plans to build a retro 1950s style gas station.
