WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) -
Former Big Spring head football coach Mitch McLemore has been named the new AD and football coach at Petrolia, pending school board approval.
The Archer City native spent two years at Big Spring and three years at Junction before.
Petrolia Superintendent confirmed McLemore will be approved at a special school board meeting Wednesday, February 20 at 6 p.m.
A panel of 13 unanimously chose McLemore from the 53 applicants for the job.
He has a 21-36 career record as a head coach, which includes a playoff trip last year.
Before becoming a head coach, he was an assistant on two state championship winning Stamford Bulldogs teams in 2012 and 2013.
